A Message From The Y

We are doing our best to serve meals during this time of uncertainty. Our Y is working with school nutrition departments and community partners to ensure that children and families have meals while schools are closed without the need for advanced signup or paperwork.

Schools are closed until April 7th and have been approved by the state for a method of “grab and go” food distribution, coordinated with sponsors like the Hockomock Area YMCA, to serve both breakfast and lunch. A lot of the planning has been done in collaboration with schools and other sponsors to ensure that sites are being opened where they are most needed. Additional distribution of bags of groceries is taking place at the YMCA, where donation boxes are located for those who are able and wish to provide contributions of food and/or grocery gift cards.

Thank you for your support of local families in need. The demand since schools closed on and around March 13th has been overwhelming. Please consider donating nonperishable food items to the collection bins located outside of each of our branches: Foxboro, Franklin and North Attleboro (available: Monday–Friday 9:00am-6:00pm). For more information on food distribution opportunities, please contact Marykate Bergen at marykateb@hockymca.org. For suggested donation items, click here.

If you have any questions regarding monetary donations, please contact Katie Moore at katiem@hockymca.org or call 508-643-5265.

Challenging times often brings out the best in people and please know that our Y is committed to being there for our members, our staff and our community.

Food Access: School Districts

Blackstone-Millville Regional School District

Our food service plans are moving forward. Again, on Mondays and Wednesdays, we will be providing breakfast and lunch. On Mondays, we will have food for both Monday and Tuesday.

On Wednesdays, for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. At 9:30 am we will be at the Hope Street Bike Path in Millville and Turbesi Park in Blackstone. At 10:45 am we will be at the Blackstone Town Hall. Lastly, we will serve at the middle school around the back of the building at 11:30 am. We will be at each site for one hour. Please bring a shopping bag with you.

We have an email setup for any additional questions that you are not sure where to send at bmrsupport@bmrsd.net. We will continue posting updates via our social media but have created a “one stop shop” Covid-19 page on our District’s website - you can access it by clicking the link below. Over the next few days we will start putting all our information and resources there, and try to limit the many emails people are getting.

Uxbridge School District

The Uxbridge Public Schools Food Service Department is committed to providing breakfast and lunch meals-to-go for students who qualify for Free and Reduced meals during this district-wide school closure.  We recognize that these may be difficult times for families.

Pick up for all school meals will be at our central location at TAFT EARLY LEARNING CENTER. Distribution will be set up outside the cafeteria doors on the sidewalk.   Families are asked to enter the drive-up/pick-up line and pull up to the curb with the cafeteria doors on your right side. We ask that everyone remain in their vehicles while our staff distributes meals.

Meals will be distributed the following days from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm:

  • Monday, April 6th

  • Wednesday, April 8th

  • Friday, April 10th

**Please click on the School Meal Pick-Up Form to assist us in planning our distribution by indicating the days you would like to pick up. This is not required to receive a meal.**
